After the optic chiasma the visual tracts are referred to as the optic tracts, which enter the thalamus to synapse at the lateral geniculate nucleus ( LGN ).

After synapsing at the LGN, the visual tract continues on back to the primary visual cortex ( V1 ) located at the back of the brain within the occipital lobe.
